Rachel’s Bracelet

Rachel’s Bracelet

Rachel was a 27-year-old mom, wife, nurse, and the list goes on. Despite her many roles and responsibilities, she was living a relatively carefree life as she went into labor with her second son. In the midst of labor, Rachel’s doctor informed her that she had acute myeloid leukemia (ALM) and would need to start treatment just hours after delivery. That meant sending her husband, 2-year-old son, and infant home while she remained in the hospital.

From that moment forward, Rachel set her sights on fighting as hard as she could and looking forward to the Rachel who was no longer a cancer patient. She committed to doing her best to live a life of faith over fear. That meant leaning into prayer, finding strength in her community, giving herself permission to feel her emotions, and being open to who she would become as a result of her journey with ALM.

Strengthening a foundation built on God’s word and promises moved Rachel through her first round of treatments and gave her the strength to battle again when she relapsed in February 2023. With God’s provision she is living each day the best she can - enjoying the beauty each day has to offer, laughing more, and loving deeper.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
